在the latest edition of theU.S. News & World Report Best College Rankingsfor 2024, Texas A&M University's College of Engineering undergraduate engineering program has retained its seventh position among public engineering schools and secured 13th overall.

The computer science program within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering jumped 10 spots overall from No. 43 to No. 33 and seven spots among publics from No. 23 to No. 16.

Before releasing the numbers publicly, U.S. News announced changes to its methodology for this edition, including a greater emphasis on outcomes for graduating college students.

"These rankings reaffirm our position as a leading institution in engineering education. We remain committed to shaping tomorrow's engineers, ready to tackle the world's challenges head-on."

Seven departments from the College of Engineering were ranked in the top 10 of public institutions. These are the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering (1), the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (3), which is part of both the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M, the Department of Aerospace Engineering (6), the J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering (6), the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (6), the Wm Michael Barnes '64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (8) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (9).

Computer engineering (12), which falls within both the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering (12) were also ranked within the top 20 of public universities.
